Apparently Eric Boateng and Paul Guede have already been training with Lions. They are set to replace Joe and Adrien. Certainly quality signings but did the two outgoing guys deserve to be cut? I'm not convinced.

Starting to think he wont be signing now! maybe coz the lack of playing time he will get! if look at most games now Taylor, Cook, Sullivan and a returning Brown will near enough play the full 40! leaving the Centre postion with Mainly Stibbins getting the mins and Salter getting the rest! with Freckelton & Lawson covering the Guards and Irish, Salter & Roberts covering the forward positions! still would love him to sign! but shouldnt take this long to get a deal through!

The way the club has handled this is just stupid. If you look at every other club in the leauge they release one or two players and within a week they have the same number of players signed up, presumably with contracts agreed before current players are realised. Then you have the Lions two key long term squad players are realised and over a month later no new signings. Makes no sense at all, shorly it will be better for the team and rotation to keep the players, not pushing them out the door immediately . leaving gaps in the squad players picking up longer minuets and a lack of depth. It really begs the question where these players actually ever going to sign and whether this was purely done to cut the wage bill and bring fans in as well as keeping season ticket holders happy. On the other hand it could just come down to negotiations over the incoming players breaking down, but a lack of information from the club may suggest otherwise. This then creates even more questions if these players aren't signing why haven't we signed anyone else. During this time Mockfords gone to Plymouth, judging by his preformance last summer with GB he is better than one of the rumoured players Guede anyway, why have we not looked at him. where in a better position than plymouth, he could rotate with brown or taylor and give us more of a threat at range nad on the break. In my opinion this poor lack of organisation and recruitment has lead to the loss up in Durham and potentially two losses against Newcastle as well as long term losses against other playoff teams, if this is not resolved. Making our possible post season more difficult with possibly a 5-8 place finish and a tough first round fixture ending with an away fixture at Leicester, Newcastle or Worcester. Looking at Vince's record away and especially at theses places we would lose. Ending with the same result as last season. The squad badly needs to be sorted by the away fixtures at Worcester and Cheshire to allow the team to gel, otherwise we can wave the finals at the 02 goodbye.

Gary: That's not a big enough squad. Roberts, Irish and even Freckleton are nowhere near the level Lions wish to be, to consider giving them serious minutes. Also I recall an interview at the start of the season - I think with Drew - saying that older players like he and Rod Brown would be able to play 30 minute games with the strength in depth we should have...
tragicbronson: As I understand it, their contracts had a certain date by which the club could terminate them, otherwise they'd have ticked over into running their full course.

It means that a sponsor was lined up to fund the player/s and it hasn't happened. Its a shame but if there's no money in the kitty we just have to get on with it. We are desperate for a new big man and Joe to come back. Stibbins is giving it everything but he needs help inside and Salter seems to have lost all confidence.

Salter seems to have lost all confidence. I've noticed that too. You can see in the warm-up he's got a good long shot but I don't recall him making a 3 this season. Now he's even missing dunks!
